First Star Recycling was one of the first community recycling organizations to begin recycling cartons. As a result, First Star and our CEO Dale Gubbels were given a featured position in the “Faces of 40” profile from the Carton Council, to serve as a model for other communities and recyclers.
Today, thanks to the hard work of industry leaders like First Star recycling, 40 percent of U.S. households now have access to carton recycling. First Star is able to accept both of the two most common forms of cartons: Shelf-Stable Cartons (i.e. juice, milk, soy and grain milk, wine) as well as refrigerated cartons (i.e. milk, juice cream, egg substitutes).
As a Carton Council member, First Star is committed to environmentally sustainable practices throughout the entire life-cycle of a carton package. By producing sustainable and carbon smart products made mainly from a renewable resource; consumers can wisely select cartons as one of the best package choices to meet their food and environmental needs.
