Items that CANNOT be recycled with curbside recycling from First Star

At First Star recycling, we encourage our customers to recycle all the products they can, however, we cannot accept certain items with our curbside recycling program. Recycling glass and electronics can cause harm to our employees. They also do not process the same way our plastics, paper, and aluminum products do.

DO NOT recycle these items in your curbside recycling bin. These item can contaminate all of the other recyclables or pose a risk to our staff members on the sorting line.

Due to safety regulations and health regulations, we cannot accept the following items with curbside recycling:

  • Appliances
  • Bags
  • Construction materials
  • Containers that held hazardous materials
  • Diapers
  • Electronics
  • Film
  • Foam peanuts

  • Glass
  • Motor oil containers
  • Paper plates
  • Paper towels
  • Plastic bags
  • Potato chip bags
  • Rubber
  • Styrofoam
  • Toys

For items listed above, you may be able to find other locations to recycle these.  Please refer to the Nebraska Recycling Council Recycling Guide at http://www.nrcne.org/recycling-guide
