The Hefty® ReNew® Program
The Hefty® EnergyBag® program now has a new name: Hefty ReNew™.
Residents who participate in the program should be aware they will see this new name around the community and in local stores. While the name has changed, the program remains the same and continues to bring residents a simple, convenient way to convert hard-to-recycle plastics into a variety of valued resources.
Here are a few simple steps for anyone looking for an easy way to collect and recover hard-to-recycle plastics like bubble wrap, grocery bags, foam packaging, and more:
Simply look for the bright orange bags under a new name, Hefty ReNew™, in the trash bag aisle at your local store or online at HeftyReNew.com, Target.com, and Walmart.com.
Fill the official Hefty® ReNew® orange bag with plastics that are hard to recycle. If you have any questions about what you can include in the bags, please click the button below for a printable list of acceptable items.
Once filled, place the Hefty® ReNew® orange bags directly inside the recycling bin at the curb or approved drop-off location. If you have leftover Hefty® ReNew® orange bags, they will still be accepted.
The filled bags will be picked up with your normal recycling and then converted into useful resources like plastic lumber and durable building materials.
Not an Omaha resident? No problem! Visit the Hefty ReNew website to find the drop-off location that is closest to you.

Residents of Omaha, Lincoln, and other communities that bring their recyclables to First Star recycling are able to participate in the program. If you are unsure and would like to check availability, please contact us here.
A commercial program is also available for businesses, and more information can be found here.
